Rose McGee is Founder of the internationally recognized non-profit Sweet Potato Comfort Pie®
Locally and nationally, she is a well-known speaker, storyteller, and activist who is recognized as one of Minnesota’s 50 Over 50, a member of Women Who Really Cook, the Golden Valley and the Minnesota League of Women Voters, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
She is featured in the national PBS documentary, A Few Good Pie Places, author of the books, Story Circle Stories, Kumbayah The Juneteenth Story, and has a TEDx Talk on The Power of Pie. In November, Rose’s children’s book, Can’t Nobody Make a Sweet Potato Pie like Our Mama, will be released by the Minnesota Historical Society Press.
Loren Niemi is a poet, author, innovative storyteller and the founder of the American School of Storytelling. He received a Lifetime Achievement award from the National Storytelling Network in 2016 and a 2020 Midwest Book Award for his story collection, “What Haunts Us”.
