Children’s Author Reading- Jack Zipes

This captivating story follows the journey of twins Anja and Zack, two young witches, who are separated from their parents after a ruthless dictator named Nexus takes control of the world. With the help of a small group of small people, the Wellikans, they resist the brutal Nexus with the help of a powerful elderly witch.
Written by Zipes, a political activist since the 60s, this novella reflects his belief that the world’s conditions have deteriorated for many, particularly for the young, and that fascism has crept into even the smallest corners of the globe. His tale is a hopeful sign of resistance and defiance.
Author Bio: Jack Zipes is a retired professor from the University of Minnesota and has published numerous books about folk and fairy tales. He has recently turned to writing novellas, and his latest work is entitled The Wrath of Peace, or How the Wellikans Saved the World.
