Beginnings and Endings

The invitation for the audience to enter the story can be more complicated than “Once upon a time…”. Similarly, the ending often deserves more than a rote “Happily ever after..”   This two session hands-on workshop will explore how to strengthen the beginnings and endings of your chosen stories, whether personal or traditional.

Ghost Story Summer Camp- Online

Who doesn’t like telling ghost stories, at summer camp or the family table? In the first session, the American School of Storytelling’s Founder, Loren Niemi will tell three types of ghost stories and examine what makes them work. In the second session you should bring your favorite tale to share and learn how to tailor it to augment its “things that go bump in the night’ quality.

Online, two sessions on Wednesday August 20 & August 27 at 7:00 – 8:30 PM Central, $40 fee

Reimagining Traditional Stories

There is power in the old stories that can show us how to face difficulties and triumph. They can speak to our own time and circumstances. Whether Immersive, deconstructed or braided, these approaches will explore how to reimagine the traditional stories as illuminations of our own lives and meanings to make what is old, new again. Bring a story you want to work on and over the course of the three sessions discover what happens when you change the point of view, time frame or where the story begins and ends.
